Grandmother to Grandmother

There is a group of Grandmothers in Canada who raise money for the Grandmothers in Lesotho, Africa. Tomorrow -- my Canadian friend Marion will be working at the Market for Africa in Kingston, Ontario. She has been sewing one-of-a-kind fleece jackets for months now -- up to nearly 50, I think -- to be sold at the Market. Every dollar they raise will be sent to support the African Grandmothers who are raising their grandchildren because nearly an entire generation has died of AIDS...

The Canadian Gransmothers work all year to put this Market together. They'll be selling funky fashions, accessories, children's robes, previously-loved jewelry...

In this summer-in-Chicago picture, Marion and I are enjoying our tourist-time...and we both love to talk about our grandchildren...

It's so hard to imagine the desperate conditions of the African Grandmothers..

If you are in the area of Kingston, Ontario -- here's an invitation to the African Market:
