Princeton Players

If you're lucky -- you have MANY OPTIONS for places to go and things to do in your community. In August, Lilly and I attended a play right in my little town of Princeton, put on by the Princeton Players. It was: ARGONUTS -- Jason and the Quest for the Golden Fleece.

We arrived early.(Mostly, I cannot stop myself)....so Lilly got to scope out where she wanted to sit.

I took a few pictures of what our small town "theater" looks like. It is one big room upstairs in our Civic Center -- which, 20 years ago, used to be Boll's General Store...Boll's was a wonderful mainstay for Princeton, but during that time, the upstairs of the building served as a warehouse for the grocery store-- storing fixtures and seasonal merchandise...

By contrast -- in the 1920's through the 1940's, the upstairs of this building served as a movie theater for this small town -- or a dance hall -- and even a roller rink...
When Merlin Boll (a bachelor who never married or had children)  died, he gave the building to the City of Princeton and it became the Civic Center. So the main level is a busy place, with a large kitchen and remodeled rest rooms.
This is what the upstairs looks like -- a new stage, and about 250 chairs...

By the time the play started -- it was a full house!

We arrived so early, Lilly tried out every seat...

We are so lucky here. The Quad Cities has so many wonderful places to go -- and offers a really full roster of entertainment and interesting things to do. I am sure every part of the country has their own attractions, and stuff to do. But if not -- and you are bored -- you might consider a vacation to PRINCETON, IOWA...
