Customized Flannel-lined Jeans

We heat our home with a wood burning furnace. At this point in the winter -- we can't remember why.

John's summer hobby is golf -- and in the winter, he cuts wood. This year -- his hobby has turned into a full time job. Which is more like a survival contest, really...This winter has been so bitter cold -- John spends many hours working with wood -- just to keep the house warm.

The muck boots he had been using created a problem because the boot top rubbed so hard against his skin -- he had bloody shins. Of course, his legs were so frozen, he didn't feel anything...Ugh...

So-- John got a new pair of boots with much softer tops. AND they're rated to 40 BELOW zero.

When it's this cold, he likes flannel-lined jeans....but the legs are too thick to tuck into his new boots.

NOT TO WORRY -- I CAN SEW...
The first step was to cut off the legs of his flannel-lined jeans...
The new skinny legs are actually two layers...one flannel and another black polar fleece...
And this was important -- I sewed the new leg bottom WRONG sides together - so John wouldn't feel a seam.
