Must Art Be Uncomfortable?

It seems to me that museums -- especially ART MUSEUMS -- have something against chairs. I haven't done a scientific study or anything...but it just feels like whenever I visit an art museum -- they are way too in love with their big empty rooms. Apparently, most of them are storing their art in basements or lockers elsewhere. They are very, very picky about the art that is actually displayed...

And, to make sure you know how very special the chosen art is -- they like to give it a room all it's own...
This is a typical room at the Figge Museum in Davenport, Iowa. Lots of highly polished black marble floors...This horse has the room all to himself. For many years. It's just him in a room that's bigger than my house...
I mean -- what is the purpose of so much empty space??
AND -- if you do happen to see a chair (this one is in the gift shop) -- it is sure to look something like this...
Or this....
Seriously??  This chair is 12 inches off the floor...
Remember these kiddie stools??  During Mary's visit, we had an impromptu meeting in this room...
And THIS is what an art museum lobby sofa looks like...(again, 12 inches off the ground)
If you are running a museum -- or know somebody who volunteers at one -- please tell them to BUY SOME DAMN CHAIRS. For crying out loud -- me and my friends would love to spend more time there. We are retired, we have the time. But, sorry -- we are old and fat. Our knees are bad...and WE NEED TO SIT DOWN...
