Dogs and Kids

Growing up, we always had a dog. We lived on a farm, it was usually an outside dog, and most always a German Shepard. Once Dad had a barky little Chihuahua. But the dog we all remember was a beautiful, well trained collie we named Lassie. (we were a bunch of original thinkers).

I wonder now where those dogs came from? Did my parents ever actually "buy" a dog? How long was Lassie actually with us? She really was an amazing dog. At night, she would go from room to room, making sure all six of us were in bed. Then, she'd go sleep in my brother's room. But every morning, my parents would wake up with her at the foot of their bed.

Lassie was killed by a car on the road in front of our house. That night was the first time I heard my Dad crying...

But my connection with dogs was NOTHING compared to Lilly's childhood experience. She has ALWAYS had her own personal dog. Sophie. Sophie is always right where Lilly is. Sophie is her best friend. There has never been a doubt in Lilly's mind that Sophie loves her most of all...and unconditionally...
They sleep together...

When Warren was born, Sophie took up her post as baby nurse...But there was never any question about Sophie's true loyalty. Lilly is her person.

Warren has always had dogs in his life. But he was never a dog's main person...
until now...
Warren is really good for Frankie. And vice versa...
