Missouri Welcomes US...

Our amazing shopping expedition to the Goodwill Outlet in Des Moines was the PERFECT half-way break in our road trip. Ronda and I got back into the car -- totally refreshed -- and hit the road again. Missouri Star Quilting Company -- HERE WE COME...
Entering Missouri, we stopped at their beautiful visitors center.
The one with the amazing MOSAIC Tile walls
Proud home of Harry Truman
Although...c'mon...I really didn't need the sign, people.
GREAT JOB ON THE VISITOR'S CENTER, Missouri!!
According to Garmin, we are about 3 hours away from MSQC....
Ten minutes into the state -- the scenery all looks like this...
Or this....
Two hours later....now actively looking for a bathroom...
No bathroom here...no people, either...humm....
At this point, Ronda was driving and I was whining..."are we there yet??"
"No, she said.  You can wait.  Just hold it."
"Sweet Jesus...is that a building up ahead??  My eyes are crossing....we haven't seen another car for two hours..."
FINALLY!! After three hours of driving through total desolation -- WE HAVE ARRIVED!!
So -- the first surprising thing about Missouri Star Quilting Company is how far it is from civilization. Holy Cow. Remember, people, I LIVE IN IOWA. Which is, by any standard, considered a rural state. But this part of Missouri was like landing on another planet. So many miles of no towns, no homes, no people....

How did MSQC end up here??  Honestly...it's one of those truth-is-stranger-than-fiction stories.
